THE JOURNEY, DAY BY DAY

Your 10-day Casablanca to Marrakech itinerary

Nine nights in route order: Rabat, Chefchaouen, Fes twice, Merzouga hotel, desert camp, Dades and Marrakech twice. Road-driving estimates exclude visits, meals and breaks. Local touring days and Day 10 transfers are identified separately.

Day 1: Casablanca ⇢ Hassan II Mosque ⇢ Rabat

Your Morocco journey begins with pickup from your hotel or accommodation in Casablanca, or directly from Mohammed V International Airport when your confirmed arrival time fits the day’s schedule. If arrival timing and the site’s visiting schedule permit, start with a visit to the impressive Hassan II Mosque, dramatically positioned beside the Atlantic Ocean. Its monumental scale, intricate zellige, carved cedarwood, and oceanfront setting make it a memorable introduction to Moroccan architecture and craftsmanship.

Interior admission is separate. After the stop, travel north toward Rabat, Morocco’s capital and one of its four imperial cities. Subject to the time available and site access, explore the Hassan Tower and Mausoleum of Mohammed V, then continue to the historic Kasbah of the Oudayas, where white-and-blue lanes lead toward gardens and viewpoints overlooking the Bouregreg River and Atlantic coast.

After sightseeing, check into your hotel or riad and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure. The first day is intentionally kept comfortable, particularly for guests arriving in Morocco that morning, giving you time to settle in before the journey continues north.

Night 1: Rabat. Breakfast included; dinner separate.

Approx. distance: 90 km from Casablanca to Rabat

Approx. driving time: 1–1½ hours excluding the Casablanca visit, sightseeing, and breaks

Day 2: Rabat ⇢ Rif Mountains ⇢ Chefchaouen

After breakfast, leave Rabat and travel north through Morocco’s countryside toward the Rif Mountains. The landscape becomes progressively greener as agricultural plains give way to rolling hills, mountain villages, and winding roads. Stops for coffee, lunch, and photographs can be made along the way without rushing the journey.

Arrive in Chefchaouen, famous for the blue-painted streets of its old medina and its beautiful setting beneath the Rif Mountains. After checking into your riad, spend the afternoon exploring at your own pace, wandering through quiet blue alleyways, browsing small artisan shops, and enjoying the atmosphere around Plaza Uta el-Hammam.

Later, you may walk toward Ras El Maa or continue uphill to the Spanish Mosque viewpoint for panoramic views across the blue medina and surrounding mountains around sunset. Return to the old town afterward and enjoy a relaxed evening in one of Morocco’s most distinctive destinations.

Night 2: Chefchaouen. Breakfast included; dinner separate.

Approx. distance: 250 km

Approx. driving time: 4–4½ hours excluding lunch and comfort stops

Day 3: Chefchaouen ⇢ Volubilis ⇢ Meknes ⇢ Fes

Leave Chefchaouen after breakfast and descend from the Rif Mountains toward Volubilis, Morocco’s best-preserved Roman archaeological site. Explore the remains of ancient houses, columns, monumental gateways, and detailed mosaic floors while discovering a very different chapter of the country’s history.

Continue toward Meknes, one of Morocco’s imperial cities, where, subject to access and timing, you can explore highlights of the historic center and stop for lunch. The city offers a quieter contrast to nearby Fes, with monumental gates, traditional neighborhoods, and architecture reflecting its period as an imperial capital.

In the afternoon, continue to Fes and check into your riad or hotel. The evening is left free so you can relax and enjoy your first impressions of the city before dedicating the following day to an in-depth guided exploration of its historic medina.

Night 3: Fes. Breakfast included; dinner separate.

Approx. distance: 250–260 km

Approx. driving time: 4½–5 hours excluding Volubilis, Meknes, lunch, and sightseeing

Day 4: Discover the Charm of Fes on a Guided Tour

After breakfast, meet your licensed local guide for a full day discovering Fes, Morocco’s oldest imperial city. Begin with landmarks outside the pedestrian medina, which may include the Royal Palace gates, the historic Mellah, and panoramic viewpoints overlooking the old city before entering the UNESCO-listed Fes el-Bali.

Inside the medina, follow a maze of narrow lanes through traditional souks, artisan workshops, fountains, madrasas, and centuries-old neighborhoods. Depending on opening hours and access, highlights can include Al-Attarine Madrasa, Nejjarine Square, the Al-Qarawiyyin area, and the famous Chouara Tanneries, while your guide introduces you to crafts such as ceramics, leatherwork, weaving, metalwork, and woodcarving that remain part of everyday life in Fes.

The tour is flexible, with time for lunch, photographs, shopping, and places that particularly interest you rather than simply moving from monument to monument. Return to your accommodation later in the afternoon and enjoy another evening in Fes at your own pace.

Night 4: Fes, second night. Breakfast included; dinner separate.

Approx. touring time: 6–7 hours, with flexibility for lunch and breaks

Main activity: Full-day guided city tour

Day 5: Fes ⇢ Ifrane ⇢ Cedar Forest ⇢ Midelt ⇢ Ziz Valley ⇢ Merzouga Desert

After breakfast, leave Fes and climb into the Middle Atlas Mountains, beginning with a stop in Ifrane, known for its cool mountain climate, landscaped streets, and alpine-inspired architecture. Continue toward the cedar forests near Azrou, where you may see Barbary macaques among the trees; sightings are not guaranteed and wildlife should not be fed, before crossing the elevated plateaus toward Midelt.

After lunch around Midelt, continue south as the scenery shifts from mountain landscapes to increasingly arid terrain. Descend toward the Tafilalet region and stop above the spectacular Ziz Valley, where thousands of date palms create a vivid green corridor between rocky cliffs and traditional villages.

By late afternoon, the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi begin to dominate the horizon as you approach Merzouga. Check into your hotel or riad near the dunes and enjoy a relaxed first evening in the Sahara. Your main desert activities are intentionally reserved for the following day, allowing you to experience Merzouga without rushing after the long drive from Fes.

Night 5: Merzouga hotel or riad. Dinner and breakfast included.

Approx. distance: 470 km

Approx. driving time: 7–8 hours excluding sightseeing stops, lunch, and comfort breaks

Day 6: Merzouga 4×4 Desert Exploration ⇢ Khamlia ⇢ Nomadic Family ⇢ Sunset Camel Trek ⇢ Desert Camp

After breakfast, begin a private 4×4 exploration around the Erg Chebbi dunes, following desert tracks beyond the main roads. Visit Khamlia village, known for its Gnawa musical heritage, before continuing through the black-desert landscapes around the former Mifis mining area and quieter parts of the Sahara surrounding Merzouga.

Subject to local availability, continue farther into the desert for the opportunity to visit a nomadic family, share traditional mint tea, and learn about everyday life in this remote environment. Depending on seasonal conditions, the excursion may also include the lake near Merzouga and panoramic points around Erg Chebbi. The schedule remains flexible, with time for photographs, short walks, conversation, and a relaxed lunch.

Later in the afternoon, return to the dunes and meet your camel caravan for a trek across Erg Chebbi planned around sunset and adjusted to conditions. Guests who prefer not to ride can reach the camp by 4×4, while luggage is transferred separately. Settle into your private en-suite tent, enjoy dinner, and finish the evening with traditional music around the fire beneath the Sahara sky.

Night 6: Merzouga camp. Private en-suite tent, dinner and breakfast included.

Approx. 4×4 distance: 50–80 km, depending on the route and stops

Approx. excursion time: 4–6 hours including visits and stops; this is not continuous driving

Day 7: Merzouga Desert ⇢ Rissani ⇢ Todra Gorge ⇢ Dades Gorge

If timing and conditions allow, wake early to watch sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes before breakfast at camp. After leaving Merzouga, travel toward Rissani, an important historic trading center of the Tafilalet. If this day falls on a Sunday, Tuesday, or Thursday, a stop may be possible, if timing allows, to experience one of Rissani’s principal market days, when residents and traders from surrounding desert communities come into town to buy and sell produce, spices, household goods, livestock, and regional products.

Continue west toward Tinghir, where the arid landscape suddenly opens into a broad oasis of palms, gardens, and traditional villages. A short drive brings you to Todra Gorge, where towering limestone cliffs rise above the narrow canyon. Take time for a walk through the gorge, photographs, and lunch in the area before continuing toward the Dades region.

The afternoon journey leads through striking mountain scenery, Amazigh settlements, cultivated terraces, and unusual rock formations before reaching the Dades Gorge. Stop at selected viewpoints before checking into your hotel or riad, where you can relax and enjoy dinner surrounded by the landscapes of southern Morocco.

Night 7: Dades Valley. Dinner and breakfast included.

Approx. distance: 275 km

Approx. driving time: 4–5 hours excluding sightseeing stops, lunch, the Rissani market visit when applicable, and breaks

Day 8: Dades Gorge ⇢ Ouarzazate ⇢ Ait Ben Haddou ⇢ High Atlas Mountains ⇢ Marrakech

After breakfast, leave the Dades region and travel west through kasbah country toward Ouarzazate, passing villages and changing desert landscapes along the way. In Ouarzazate, guests interested in cinema can choose an optional Atlas Film Studios visit at additional cost, time permitting, where sets and backdrops from numerous international productions can be explored.

Continue to Ait Ben Haddou, the UNESCO-listed fortified ksar whose earthen architecture rises dramatically above the surrounding valley. Walk through its narrow lanes and climb toward the upper sections for panoramic views.

After the visit, cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, stopping at selected viewpoints as the road winds through high valleys and Amazigh villages. Descend toward Marrakech in the afternoon or early evening and check into your accommodation, marking the transition from the desert journey to the vibrant Red City.

Night 8: Marrakech. Breakfast included; dinner separate.

Approx. distance: 320–350 km

Approx. driving time: 6–7 hours excluding sightseeing stops, lunch, the optional Atlas Studios visit, and comfort breaks

Day 9: Guided Tour of Marrakech

After breakfast, meet your licensed local guide and begin exploring the historic heart of Marrakech. Depending on opening hours and access, visit landmarks such as Bahia Palace, Ben Youssef Madrasa, and the area around the Koutoubia Mosque, while learning about the dynasties, architecture, traditions, and daily life that have shaped the city over centuries.

Continue on foot through the medina, discovering colorful souks filled with spices, textiles, lanterns, leather goods, ceramics, and traditional workshops. Your guide can introduce you to quieter lanes as well as the lively commercial quarters before reaching Jemaa el-Fna, the famous central square that has long served as one of Marrakech’s great meeting places.

The day is arranged at a comfortable pace, with time for lunch, photography, shopping, and breaks whenever needed. After the guided tour, the remainder of the evening is yours to enjoy independently, whether you prefer a rooftop dinner, a traditional hammam, or simply more time wandering through the medina.

Night 9: Marrakech, second night. Breakfast included; dinner separate.

Approx. touring time: 6–7 hours, with flexibility for lunch and breaks

Main activity: Full-day guided Marrakech tour

Day 10: Departure Transfer from Marrakech or Casablanca

Enjoy breakfast and your final morning in Morocco according to your departure schedule. If you are flying from Marrakech Menara Airport, your private driver will collect you from your hotel or riad with sufficient time for check-in and take you directly to the terminal.

If your international flight departs from Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport, the transfer can instead be arranged from Marrakech to Casablanca. The journey follows the motorway north, with a comfort stop if required. We confirm the airport, road-transfer allowance and pickup time against your flight before booking; for an early Casablanca flight, an additional overnight nearer the airport may be more practical.

Your private airport transfer brings the journey to a comfortable conclusion after ten days exploring Morocco’s imperial cities, Rif and Atlas mountain landscapes, Sahara dunes, ancient kasbahs, and historic medinas.

Finish: Marrakech Airport, or Casablanca Airport when agreed in advance and compatible with your flight. No overnight stay is included tonight.

Marrakech Airport transfer: approx. 15–30 minutes, depending on your accommodation and traffic

Marrakech ⇢ Casablanca Airport: approx. 245 km / 2½–3 hours of road travel, excluding breaks, traffic delays and airport check-in; allow a separate airport buffer

Practical details for ten days in Morocco

The tour includes nine nights. The overnight sequence is Rabat, Chefchaouen, Fes twice, Merzouga hotel/riad, Merzouga camp, Dades Valley and Marrakech twice.

The Merzouga overnight order is hotel first, camp second. Night 5 is a relaxed hotel or riad stay near the dunes after the drive from Fes; Night 6 follows the full 4×4 desert exploration and the sunset camel trek into the camp.

The camel trek is optional. Travelers who prefer not to ride can reach the desert camp by 4×4, and luggage is transferred separately.

The seasonal lake is conditional. The Merzouga 4×4 excursion includes it when water levels and local conditions allow.

Fes and Marrakech have dedicated guided days. Entrance fees are separate, so your guide can adapt the visit according to the monuments you want to enter.

Day 10 can finish at Marrakech or Casablanca Airport. A Casablanca transfer requires sufficient time for the roughly three-hour road journey plus airport check-in.

Pack for several climates. The route crosses the Rif region, Middle Atlas, Sahara Desert and High Atlas Mountains, so temperatures can vary considerably during the trip.

Review the booking terms before paying your deposit. See the Complete Morocco cancellation policy or contact us if you have questions about your dates.

Confirm both arrival and departure flights

The Day 1 Casablanca–Rabat estimate covers that road leg, not airport collection and sightseeing. Hassan II Mosque depends on arrival and visiting times, with admission separate. For Day 10, confirm the departure airport and flight time before booking. The quoted Casablanca road time is not the total time to allow before a flight; traffic and airport check-in need additional time.

Tell us children’s ages, dietary needs, mobility requirements and room preferences. Family visits depend on local availability; ask before photographing people. The private vehicle and driver-guide are reserved for your booking, but hotels and camps may host other guests.

BEFORE YOU DECIDE

Questions about your 10-day Morocco itinerary

Is 10 days in Morocco enough for a first trip?

Yes. Ten days in Morocco is enough for a well-rounded private itinerary covering Rabat, Chefchaouen, Volubilis, Meknes, Fes, the Middle Atlas, Merzouga, Todra Gorge, Dades Valley and Marrakech. The route still involves several driving days, but it provides more time in Fes, Merzouga and Marrakech than shorter Morocco itineraries.

What is the route for this Morocco itinerary 10 days tour?

Day 1 travels from Casablanca to Rabat. Day 2 continues to Chefchaouen. Day 3 visits Volubilis and Meknes before reaching Fes. Day 4 is a guided Fes tour. Day 5 crosses Ifrane, the Middle Atlas and Ziz Valley to Merzouga, checking into a hotel or riad near the dunes. Day 6 explores Merzouga by 4×4 before the sunset camel trek and an overnight at the desert camp. Day 7 travels through Rissani and Todra Gorge to Dades Valley. Day 8 continues through Ouarzazate and Ait Ben Haddou to Marrakech. Day 9 is a guided Marrakech tour, and Day 10 is the departure transfer.

How much does this private 10 day Morocco tour cost?

Indicative private rates range from €1,649 to €4,249 per person depending on group size. For two travelers, the indicative rate is €2,125 per person. Travel dates, accommodation category and availability can affect the final confirmed price.

What is included in the Morocco tour 10 days package?

The tour includes private transportation, an English-speaking driver-guide, nine nights of accommodation with daily breakfast, licensed local guides in Fes and Marrakech, dinner at the Merzouga desert camp, Merzouga hotel and Dades Valley accommodation, a sunset camel trek, a private Merzouga 4×4 desert excursion, luggage transfer to camp, sandboards, arrival pickup in Casablanca and the Day 10 departure transfer.

Does the itinerary include guided tours of Fes and Marrakech?

Yes. Day 4 includes a guided tour of Fes with a licensed local guide, and Day 9 includes a guided tour of Marrakech. Entrance fees are separate unless specifically confirmed otherwise.

What is included in the Merzouga 4×4 desert excursion?

The Day 6 Merzouga excursion includes Khamlia village, the Mifis mines, a family visit subject to local availability, and the seasonal lake when water levels and local conditions allow. The route also includes panoramic desert viewpoints and stops around the Erg Chebbi area, and the day concludes with the sunset camel trek and an overnight at the desert camp.

What accommodation is included during the 10 days Morocco itinerary?

The standard route includes one night in Rabat, one night in Chefchaouen, two nights in Fes, one night at a Merzouga hotel or riad, one night at a Merzouga desert camp, one night in Dades Valley and two nights in Marrakech. Standard Comfort, Mid-Range and Premium accommodation categories are available, subject to availability.

What meals are included?

Daily breakfast is included at all nine overnight accommodations. Dinner is included at the Merzouga hotel on Night 5, the desert camp on Night 6 and Dades Valley on Night 7. Lunches, additional beverages and other dinners are not included.

Is the camel trek optional?

Yes. The sunset camel trek is included, but travelers who prefer not to ride can reach the Merzouga desert camp by 4×4. Your main luggage is transferred separately.

What type of vehicle is used?

Private transportation is matched to group size. Smaller groups generally use a private 4×4, medium-sized groups travel by minivan, and larger bookings use a minibus. The dedicated Merzouga desert exploration is carried out by 4×4.

How much driving is involved in this 10 day Morocco itinerary?

The longest point-to-point days are normally Fes to Merzouga at approximately 7–8 hours of actual driving and Dades Valley to Marrakech at approximately 6–7 hours. Other transfer days are shorter, while Days 4, 6 and 9 focus mainly on local sightseeing rather than long-distance travel.

Can the 10 day Morocco itinerary be customized?

Yes. Because this is a private tour, some adjustments to accommodation, sightseeing and the Day 10 departure transfer can be made when they remain realistic within the route. Major changes can affect driving times and price.

Can Day 10 end at Casablanca Airport instead of Marrakech Airport?

Yes. Day 10 can include a departure transfer from Marrakech to Casablanca Airport when your flight schedule allows enough time for the road journey and airport check-in. For earlier flights, an additional Casablanca overnight may be more practical.

What is the best time of year for a Morocco travel itinerary like this?

Spring and autumn generally offer comfortable conditions across the cities, mountains and Sahara. Winter nights around Merzouga can be cold, while summer temperatures in the desert can be very high. The tour can operate throughout the year, subject to road and weather conditions.

How do I book this 10 day Morocco tour?

Send your travel dates, number of travelers and preferred accommodation category through the booking form. We will check private transportation, all nine overnight stays, the Fes and Marrakech guides and the desert services before confirming the final itinerary and price. Once you approve the details, the required deposit secures the booking.

What does the lowest price apply to?

The €1,649 rate is per person for a private group of 10 or more. The indicative rate for two travelers is €2,125 each. The table refers to your own booking, not a shared departure; accommodation, dates and room arrangements determine the final quote.

How does this differ from the eight-day itinerary?

The ten-day tour has a Merzouga hotel night plus a camp night, a full private desert exploration day, two Marrakech nights, a guided Marrakech day and a departure-transfer day. The eight-day tour instead includes a Skoura overnight and ends with Marrakech drop-off. This ten-day route does not include the eight-day route’s Skoura overnight.

Does Day 10 include another sightseeing day?

No. Day 10 is arranged around breakfast, any free time your flight permits and the departure transfer. It is not a full guided sightseeing day.

Is the whole desert camp private?

Your tent is private, and your vehicle and driver-guide are dedicated to your booking. Hotels and the desert camp may host other guests.

How do payment and cancellation work?

After you approve the itinerary and quote, the agreed deposit secures the booking. Payment can be arranged by PayPal, bank transfer or Wise. Review your booking terms and our cancellation policy before paying.
