KNOW THE PACE BEFORE YOU BOOK

Four days from Casablanca to Marrakech, with the Sahara at the center

This private 4-day Morocco itinerary connects Casablanca, Rabat, Fes, Merzouga and Marrakech in one ambitious overland journey. Your three nights follow a simple sequence: a Fes hotel or riad, a Sahara desert camp near Erg Chebbi, and a Dades Valley stay.

After a short introduction to Rabat, spend your first evening in Fes before crossing the Middle Atlas and Ziz Valley toward Merzouga. Take a camel trek planned around sunset, or choose a 4×4 camp transfer, then enjoy dinner and your private en-suite tent among the desert landscapes.

Continue through Todra Gorge and Dades before the final road day via Ait Ben Haddou and the High Atlas. This tour prioritizes the Sahara crossing: it includes no full guided Fes day, no full Merzouga exploration day, and no guided Marrakech visit. Your Marrakech stay after drop-off is arranged separately.

THE JOURNEY, DAY BY DAY

Your 4-day Casablanca to Marrakech itinerary

Stay in Fes, the Merzouga desert camp and Dades Valley, then finish in Marrakech on Day 4. Driving estimates below exclude sightseeing, meals and comfort stops. The full travel days are longer than the quoted driving time.

Day 1: Casablanca ⇢ Rabat ⇢ Fes

Your private Morocco journey begins with pickup from your hotel or accommodation in Casablanca, or directly from Mohammed V International Airport only when your confirmed arrival time fits the day’s route. If arrival timing and the site’s visiting hours allow, begin with a visit to the impressive Hassan II Mosque, dramatically positioned beside the Atlantic Ocean and celebrated for its scale, intricate zellige, carved plasterwork, and traditional Moroccan craftsmanship.

Mosque interior admission is separate. Continue north to Rabat, Morocco’s capital, for a concise introduction to the city’s most important landmarks. Subject to time and access, visit the Hassan Tower and Mausoleum of Mohammed V, then explore the Kasbah of the Oudayas, where white-and-blue lanes and viewpoints overlook the Bouregreg River. There will also be time for lunch before continuing east toward Fes.

Arrive in Fes in the late afternoon or early evening and check into your hotel or riad. After the journey from Casablanca, the evening is left free for you to relax, enjoy dinner, and settle into the atmosphere of one of Morocco’s most historic imperial cities.

Night 1: Fes hotel or riad. Breakfast included; dinner separate.

Approx. distance: 300 km

Approx. driving time: 3½–4½ hours excluding sightseeing, lunch, and comfort breaks

Day 2: Fes ⇢ Ifrane ⇢ Cedar Forest ⇢ Midelt ⇢ Ziz Valley ⇢ Merzouga Desert

After breakfast, leave Fes and travel south into the Middle Atlas Mountains, beginning with a stop in Ifrane, known for its cool climate, landscaped streets, and distinctive alpine-inspired architecture. Continue toward the cedar forests near Azrou, where you may see Barbary macaques among the trees; sightings are not guaranteed and wildlife should not be fed, before crossing the broad mountain plateaus toward Midelt.

Pause around Midelt for lunch, then continue south as the scenery gradually shifts from forested mountains to rocky valleys and semi-desert landscapes. As the road descends toward the Tafilalet region, stop at a panoramic viewpoint above the Ziz Valley, where thousands of date palms form a striking green corridor between rugged cliffs and traditional villages.

By late afternoon, the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi begin to rise on the horizon as you approach Merzouga. Meet your camel caravan for a ride across the dunes planned around sunset, subject to arrival time and conditions, or travel to the camp by 4×4 if you prefer not to ride. After settling into your private en-suite tent, enjoy dinner followed by traditional music around the fire beneath the Sahara sky.

Night 2: Merzouga desert camp, private en-suite tent. Dinner and breakfast included.

Approx. distance: 470 km

Approx. driving time: 7–8 hours excluding sightseeing stops, lunch, and comfort breaks

Day 3: Merzouga Desert ⇢ Rissani ⇢ Todra Gorge ⇢ Dades Valley

If timing and conditions allow, wake early to watch the sunrise over Erg Chebbi before breakfast at the desert camp. After leaving Merzouga, travel toward Rissani, a historic trading center with deep connections to the caravan routes of the Tafilalet. If your visit falls on a Sunday, Tuesday, or Thursday, a stop may be possible, if timing allows, during one of the town’s traditional market days, when residents from surrounding desert communities gather to trade produce, spices, household goods, livestock, and other regional products.

Continue west toward Tinghir, where the arid landscape gives way to an extensive palm oasis stretching beneath the mountains. A short drive brings you into Todra Gorge, where towering limestone walls rise dramatically around the canyon. You will have time to walk through the gorge, enjoy the scenery, take photographs, and stop for lunch before continuing toward the Dades region.

In the afternoon, travel through a landscape of Amazigh villages, cultivated valleys, rugged cliffs, and unusual rock formations before reaching the Dades Valley. Scenic stops can be made as you enter the valley, after which you will check into your hotel or riad and enjoy a relaxed evening and dinner surrounded by the mountain scenery.

Night 3: Dades Valley hotel or riad. Dinner and breakfast included.

Approx. distance: 275 km

Approx. driving time: 4–5 hours excluding sightseeing stops, lunch, the Rissani market visit when applicable, and breaks

Day 4: Dades Valley ⇢ Ouarzazate ⇢ Ait Ben Haddou ⇢ High Atlas Mountains ⇢ Marrakech

After breakfast, leave the Dades Valley and travel west through the landscapes of southern Morocco toward Ouarzazate, passing old kasbahs, villages, and open desert scenery along the way. In Ouarzazate, an optional visit to Atlas Film Studios can be arranged at additional cost, time permitting for guests interested in Morocco’s long connection with international cinema before continuing toward Ait Ben Haddou.

Spend time exploring Ait Ben Haddou, the UNESCO-listed fortified ksar whose earthen towers and narrow passageways have made it one of southern Morocco’s most recognizable landmarks. Walk through the old village and climb toward its upper levels for views across the surrounding valley.

After the visit, continue across the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, with panoramic stops along the winding mountain road when time allows. Descend toward Marrakech in the afternoon or early evening, where your driver will drop you at your hotel, riad, or the nearest vehicle-accessible point inside the medina, bringing your four-day journey from Casablanca to Marrakech to an end.

Finish: your Marrakech hotel, riad or nearest vehicle-accessible point. Accommodation tonight is not included.

Approx. distance: 320–350 km

Approx. driving time: 6–7 hours excluding sightseeing stops, lunch, the optional Atlas Studios visit, and comfort breaks

Practical details for this four-day crossing

This is a fast-paced short trip. Four days is enough for the route only if you are comfortable with long driving days and limited time in each city.

There is no full guided tour of the Fes medina in this itinerary. Day 1 reaches Fes after Casablanca and Rabat, and Day 2 leaves for Merzouga.

The Merzouga stay includes one desert-camp night. It does not include the full 4×4 exploration with Khamlia, Mifis mines, a nomad-family visit and the seasonal lake.

The camel trek duration varies by camp location and operational conditions. A 4×4 transfer is available instead.

Bring sun protection, comfortable shoes, a small overnight bag and a warm layer for the Sahara night. Temperatures can drop sharply after sunset.

Review our cancellation policy before paying your deposit, or contact us if you need help deciding whether this pace is suitable.

Plan your flights around the road days

Arriving in Casablanca the day before is the easier option. Airport pickup on Day 1 must be checked against your flight, airport formalities and the onward route. Plan to stay in Marrakech after Day 4; avoid a tightly timed onward flight or train after the High Atlas crossing. Airport transfer and Marrakech accommodation are not part of the standard finish.

Tell us about children’s ages, dietary requirements, room preferences and mobility needs before booking. Paths in kasbahs and dunes can be uneven. Fes is an overnight stop, not a full city visit: the hero photograph illustrates the city, but a tannery visit is not an included promise.

BEFORE YOU DECIDE

Questions about your 4-day Morocco itinerary

Is 4 days in Morocco enough for Casablanca, Fes, the Sahara and Marrakech?

Four days is enough only if you are comfortable with a fast-paced private itinerary and several long driving days. This route is designed for travelers with very limited time who still want Casablanca, Rabat, Fes, the Sahara Desert, Dades Valley, Ait Ben Haddou and Marrakech in one connected trip.

What is the route for this Morocco itinerary 4 days?

Day 1 travels from Casablanca through Rabat to Fes. Day 2 crosses Ifrane, the Middle Atlas Mountains and Ziz Valley to Merzouga. Day 3 continues through Rissani and Todra Gorge to Dades Valley. Day 4 travels through Ouarzazate and Ait Ben Haddou before crossing the High Atlas Mountains to Marrakech.

Does the tour visit Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca?

Yes, when your arrival or pickup time allows. We try to include Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca before leaving for Rabat. Interior visits depend on opening and tour times, and the entrance ticket is not included.

Is Rabat included even though the first night is in Fes?

Yes. Day 1 includes a short Rabat sightseeing stop before continuing to Fes. Because this is a four-day itinerary, Rabat is visited en route rather than used as an overnight stop.

Is a guided tour of Fes included?

No full guided Fes tour is included because Day 1 reaches Fes after Casablanca and Rabat, and Day 2 departs for Merzouga. You still stay overnight in the city of Fes, but travelers who want a dedicated local-guide day should choose a longer itinerary.

How long is the camel ride in Merzouga?

The camel trek is scheduled around sunset, but the exact duration varies by camp location, dune conditions and operational routing. We do not promise a fixed ride time. A 4×4 transfer to the desert camp can be arranged instead if you prefer not to ride.

Does this 4-day tour include a full Merzouga 4×4 excursion?

No. The itinerary includes one Merzouga night, so it does not include the full desert exploration with Khamlia, the Mifis mines, a nomad-family visit and the seasonal lake. Longer itineraries are better if you want a complete Merzouga exploration day.

What accommodation is included?

The tour includes three nights of accommodation: one night in Fes, one night at a Merzouga desert camp and one night in Dades Valley. Standard Comfort, Mid-Range and Premium categories are available, subject to availability.

Which meals are included?

Breakfast is included at all three overnight accommodations. Dinner is included at the Merzouga desert camp and at the Dades Valley accommodation. Lunches, drinks and dinner in Fes are not included.

What should I pack for the Sahara Desert night?

Bring comfortable walking shoes, sun protection, sunglasses, a small overnight bag, a warm layer for the evening and any personal medication. Desert temperatures can change sharply between day and night, especially outside summer.

How much driving is involved?

This is a road-intensive itinerary. Day 1 is roughly 3½–4½ hours of actual driving before sightseeing time, Day 2 around seven to eight hours, Day 3 around four to five hours and Day 4 around six to seven hours. These estimates exclude lunch, sightseeing and comfort stops.

Can I customize this private tour?

Yes, some sightseeing and accommodation details can be customized. Because the itinerary already covers a large distance in four days, major route changes can make the schedule unrealistic and may require adding another day.

How is this 4-day itinerary different from the 5-day Morocco itinerary?

The five-day route adds Chefchaouen and a guided Fes visit after the Day 2 transfer. It follows a different northern route, rather than simply adding a rest day to this Casablanca–Rabat–Fes itinerary. Both include one Merzouga camp night and a Dades stay; the five-day route remains busy.

How is this tour different from the 7-day Morocco itinerary?

The 7-day itinerary adds Chefchaouen, Volubilis, Meknes and a full guided day in Fes. Choose the 7-day route if you want more culture and northern Morocco; choose this 4-day route if your time is limited and the Sahara is the priority.

Where does the tour finish in Marrakech?

The tour finishes with drop-off at your Marrakech hotel, riad or nearest vehicle-accessible point after crossing the High Atlas Mountains on Day 4.

Is quad biking or buggy driving included?

No. Quad biking or buggy driving in Merzouga is optional and can be arranged separately when timing and availability allow.

How much does the private four-day tour cost?

Indicative rates range from €459 per person for your own private party of 10 or more to €1,349 for one traveler. For two travelers, the indicative rate is €775 each. Dates, accommodation and room arrangements determine the written quote; these are not shared departure prices.

Is a Marrakech hotel or airport transfer included on Day 4?

No. The standard finish is drop-off at your Marrakech accommodation or the nearest vehicle-accessible point. The night in Marrakech and any onward airport transfer must be arranged separately.

Is the whole desert camp private?

Your tent is private and en-suite, and your vehicle is dedicated to your booking. Other guests may stay at the same camp or hotels.

What are the payment and cancellation terms?

After confirming the itinerary and quote, the agreed deposit secures your booking. Payments can be arranged by PayPal, bank transfer or Wise. Review your booking terms and our cancellation policy before paying.
