Your journey begins with morning pickup from your hotel or riad in Fes, heading south into the Middle Atlas Mountains. Stop first in Ifrane, a peaceful mountain town known for its alpine-inspired architecture and cooler climate, before continuing toward the cedar forests near Azrou. Here, you can take a short walk among the cedar trees and may encounter the Barbary macaques that inhabit this part of the Middle Atlas.

Continue across the high plateaus toward Midelt, where there is time for lunch before the scenery begins to change dramatically. The road descends through mountain passes toward the Tafilalet region, eventually reaching the spectacular Ziz Valley. Pause at a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the vast palm oasis, traditional villages, and ribbon of greenery stretching between the surrounding rocky cliffs.

As you approach Merzouga, the dunes of Erg Chebbi rise beyond the desert plain. Meet your camel caravan for a ride planned around sunset, with timing adjusted to the season and arrival conditions. A 4×4 transfer is included as an alternative, and your luggage travels separately. At camp, settle into your private en-suite tent, enjoy dinner and take in the evening atmosphere before your early start the following morning.

If timing and conditions allow, enjoy the first light over the dunes before breakfast. Return from camp by the agreed camel ride or 4×4 transfer, then begin the road journey early and leave the Sahara behind as you travel west through the changing landscapes of southeastern Morocco. Continue toward Tinghir and Todra Gorge, where immense limestone cliffs rise on either side of the narrow canyon. The planned stop allows a brief walk through the gorge, stretch your legs, and take photographs before continuing toward Ouarzazate and the High Atlas region.

Later in the day, pass through the landscapes of southern Morocco toward Ait Ben Haddou. Because of the considerable distance that must be covered between Merzouga and Marrakech, this is intentionally a panoramic viewpoint stop rather than a full walking visit inside the ksar. From the viewpoint, you can admire the UNESCO-listed fortified village and its remarkable earthen architecture while taking photographs across the valley.

From Ait Ben Haddou, begin the final section of the journey across the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass. The road winds through dramatic mountain valleys and traditional villages, with brief scenic stops when time allows, before descending toward Marrakech. Arrival is expected in the evening and may be late, depending on traffic, road conditions and stops, with drop-off at your hotel, riad, or the nearest vehicle-accessible point if your accommodation is inside the medina.

Finish: Marrakech accommodation or an agreed accessible drop-off point. Accommodation tonight is not included.

It is a compact itinerary for travelers comfortable with two long driving days. You get one camp night and brief sightseeing stops, with around 10–11 hours of driving on Day 2 before breaks. Choose three days if you want more time for visits and an extra overnight stop.

This is a private tour. The vehicle and driver-guide are reserved for your booking, and the price bands refer to the travelers in your own party. Your tent is private; the camp itself can host other guests.

Day 1 is approximately 7–8 hours of driving over 470 km. Day 2 is approximately 10–11 hours over 560–580 km on the planned route. Sightseeing, meals, camp transfers and comfort breaks add time. Traffic and road conditions can affect these estimates.

No. This two-day itinerary includes a brief panoramic viewpoint stop. A walking visit inside the ksar is not included. The 3-day tour provides more time for that visit.

The planned Day 2 route includes a short Todra Gorge stop for a brief walk and photographs. This is not a long hike. Your driver adjusts the day to road conditions and timing.

Yes. A 4×4 transfer to camp is included as the alternative. Tell us before departure. The return camel ride or 4×4 transfer is agreed around the early start on Day 2.

The camel trek is planned around sunset, and sunrise may be possible before breakfast and departure. Weather, daylight and arrival timing affect what you see, so neither view is guaranteed.

Dinner, breakfast, the camel trek or alternative camp transfer, luggage transfers and available camp sandboards are included. Lunches, additional drinks, monument entrance fees and local guides are separate. Quad biking and dune buggies are optional paid extras, subject to available time.

Pickup is from your Fes accommodation or an agreed vehicle-accessible point nearby. Drop-off is at your Marrakech accommodation or the nearest accessible point. The exact pickup time is confirmed before departure.

Discuss children’s ages, seating requirements and mobility needs before booking. The long drives, uneven ground and camp access need consideration. A camp transfer can replace the camel ride, but that does not make every part of the route accessible. A longer itinerary may suit your group better.

Tell us about dietary needs so we can check with the camp. Your luggage travels in the vehicle and can be transferred separately to camp; a small overnight bag is useful. Tell us about unusually large luggage when requesting your quote.
