Your 3-day Marrakech desert tour begins with morning pickup from your hotel or riad before heading south into the High Atlas Mountains. The road climbs steadily toward the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, revealing dramatic valleys, terraced mountainsides, and small Amazigh villages along the way. Several scenic stops give you time to enjoy the mountain views before descending toward the dry, ochre-colored landscapes of southern Morocco.

Continue to Ait Ben Haddou, the UNESCO-listed fortified ksar built from traditional earth and clay. You will have time to explore its narrow lanes, fortified houses, and elevated viewpoints on foot. From the upper lanes, enjoy views across the surrounding valley before continuing your journey. After the visit, continue to Ouarzazate, where an optional visit to Atlas Film Studios can be arranged at additional cost, time permitting, for guests interested in Morocco’s cinema history.

From Ouarzazate, travel through the palm-filled Skoura Oasis and continue along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs toward the Dades region. The scenery gradually changes to fertile valleys framed by rugged mountains, old mud-brick villages, and unusual rock formations. Arrive in the Dades Valley toward the end of the day, check into your hotel or riad, and enjoy dinner and a relaxed evening.

After breakfast, leave the Dades Valley and travel toward Tinghir, where a broad oasis of date palms and small farming villages stretches beneath the mountains. Continue to Todra Gorge, one of the most impressive natural stops on the route. Here, you can walk through the narrow canyon beneath towering limestone walls, enjoy the cooler air beside the river, and take photographs before continuing farther east.

The journey then crosses the open landscapes of southeastern Morocco toward Erfoud, a town well known for the fossils and mineral deposits found throughout the surrounding region. From here, continue toward the Sahara as the terrain becomes increasingly arid and the first dunes of Erg Chebbi begin to rise above the horizon. There will be time for lunch and comfortable stops along the way within the day’s planned schedule.

On arrival in Merzouga, meet your camel caravan and ride into the dunes with the ride planned around sunset and adjusted to arrival time and conditions. Guests who prefer not to ride can reach the camp by 4×4 instead, while luggage is transported separately. Once at the desert camp, settle into your private en-suite tent and enjoy dinner followed by traditional music around the fire beneath the Sahara sky.

If timing and conditions allow, wake early to watch the sunrise over Erg Chebbi before breakfast at the camp. After leaving Merzouga, travel to Rissani, an important historic trading center of the Tafilalet region. If your visit falls on a Sunday, Tuesday, or Thursday, a brief visit to the market may be possible if the schedule allows, when people from nearby desert communities come into town to trade fresh produce, spices, household goods, livestock, and other local products.

Continue southwest through the less-travelled landscapes around Nkob, passing rocky plateaus, small villages, and wide desert valleys before reaching the Draa Valley. The scenery changes noticeably around Agdez, where long stretches of date palms follow the valley beneath the mountains. This section of the journey offers a different perspective on southern Morocco, with a quieter atmosphere and striking contrasts between barren hills and fertile oasis settlements.

From Agdez, cross the Anti-Atlas landscapes toward Ouarzazate before beginning the final journey back to Marrakech. Continue through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, making brief panoramic stops when time and daylight allow. Arrival in Marrakech is expected in the evening and may be late, with drop-off at your hotel, riad, or the nearest vehicle-accessible point inside the medina.

Finish: Marrakech accommodation or an agreed accessible drop-off point. Accommodation on return night is not included.

It adds a Dades Valley overnight and spreads the outward journey across two days, with time to explore Ait Ben Haddou on foot and visit Todra Gorge before Merzouga. Both itineraries include one desert camp night. The three-day tour still has a long final drive.

The indicative rate for two travelers is €389 per person. The table ranges from €790 for a solo traveler to €150 per person for a private party of 14–17. All nine group bands refer to your own booking, not seats on a shared departure. Dates, accommodation category and availability affect the final quote. Ask for a quote if your group exceeds 17.

Night 1 is at a Dades Valley hotel or riad in a private en-suite room. Night 2 is at a Merzouga desert camp in a private en-suite tent. Dinner and breakfast are included at both stops. The accommodation category and properties are confirmed before booking.

Day 1 covers approximately 320–350 km with 6–7 hours of driving. Day 2 covers 260–275 km with 4–5 hours. Day 3 covers 560–590 km with 9–10 hours. These estimates exclude sightseeing, meals, breaks and camp transfers; traffic and weather can affect arrival.

No. Your vehicle and driver-guide are reserved for the travelers in your booking. Your room and tent are private, but the hotel and desert camp can host other guests.

Yes. An included 4×4 transfer can be arranged instead of the camel trek. Tell us before departure. Luggage transfer to and from camp is included.

Yes. Day 1 allows time to walk through the ksar. Entrance fees where applicable and local monument guides are not included unless separately arranged. The optional Atlas Studios visit also costs extra and depends on available time.

Sunrise viewing depends on weather and departure timing. A brief market visit may be possible when Day 3 falls on Sunday, Tuesday or Thursday and the schedule allows. Neither is guaranteed regardless of conditions.

Private air-conditioned transport is matched to group size: 4×4, minivan or minibus. An English-speaking driver-guide accompanies the journey. Other languages are on request and subject to availability.

Share children’s ages, seating requirements and mobility needs before booking. The final drive is long, and kasbah lanes, gorge paths and dunes can be uneven. We can discuss practical adjustments and check property access; a camp transfer alone does not make every stop accessible.
